Don runs a very diversified operation in the north west corner of Southwold township

with the assistance of a fulltime employee, Sheldon Forsyth and part time student help.

He has a small dairy herd, a small beef cow/calf herd and custom install fences and

retails farm fencing and seed.

Country Farm Seeds RK556, corn is popular with growers who want a high yie

but also appreciate the dual purpose ability to make good silage. He has customers

trying the new CF723YGCB, corn this year.

Don's most popular seed production is the RS199RR, soybean; many of his customers

have stories of this variety with high yield when planted under less than ideal conditions

on the Brookston and Haldimand clays - that prevail between Hwy # 3 and the

Thames River.There are still some IP growers with the RS1493 - although he admits

not near the acreage we had a few years ago.
